Flower
Essences are a simple and natural method of healing using
the energy of the plant kingdom. Until recent years all
pharmaceutical preparation relied upon the use of natural
substances. the flower remedies however do not use the physical
material of the plant but rather the essential energy that
is found within the flower. This healing energy is extracted
in a particular way and stored in a preserving liquid. This
subtle substance is used to treat the cause of illness at
the subtle level. While most medicine treats the physical
complaint with a physical material, the flower remedies
treat the unseen or psychological cause with an unseen energy.
It is not the plant that represents the healing quality
here, but the energy that is within the flower. This energy
is extracted by the most careful yet simple methods. An
infusion is made from the flowers, and by a process of natural
alchemy, the healing energy within the flowers is transferred
into the liquid. When the flowers are removed, the liquid
is poured into bottles where alcohol (usually brandy) is
added. This acts as a preservative.
This extract from the plant is the 'essence'. Two drops
of essence are sufficient to potentise a one ounce bottle
of brandy - this is now 'stock' of that particular remedy.
the stock is further diluted in water and brandy to make
it ready to be taken. A dose would be approximately 4 drops,
four times a day for as long as is required. For more information

The South African
Flower Essences
The South African Flower Essences are produced in the Cape
of Good Hope at the tip of the African Continent where the
Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. It is a place of exceptional
and dramatic beauty. Table Mountain, around which the city
of Cape Town is situated has long been regarded as a sacred
site and one of the chakras of the planet. It is on the
slopes of this mountain that the essences are made.
Our planet
has six floral kingdoms and the Cape of Good Hope is home
to one of these. It is the smallest geographical area to
have its own floral kingdom, being a size comparable to
the area of Portugal. There are over 8600 species of plants
indigenous to this floristic region. Table Mountain alone
has 1500 indigenous species, many of which are found nowhere
else. By comparison the whole of the British Isles also
has about 1500 indigenous species.
In the 17th
and 18th centuries when European botanists arrived in the
Cape they were amazed to discover an unrecognisable plant
life, a new and unique botanical world. New names had to
be invented for whole plant families. Many of these plants
were taken back to Europe and today it is often not known
that species such as Geraniums, Freesias, Sparaxis, Gladioli
and Agapanthus originate from the Cape.
Certain of
the plants from the Cape of Good Hope are used by other
flower essence producers. For instance the Agapanthus and
Belladonna lily by the New Perception Essences in New Zealand,
and the Arum Lily (called Calla Lily in California) by the
Flower Essence Society. For the most part the energy of
this wonderfully rich and diverse floral kingdom, which
includes the vast Protea and Erica families, has not been
accessed.
It is believed
that, as we near the end of the millennium, there is an
increasing awareness that we live in a world composed of
electromagnetic energy and that we ourselves are vibrational
beings. Increasingly, we understand that true healing occurs
when we raise our vibrational frequency to a level where
negativity and disease cannot exist.
As human beings
we have free will and it is essential that we exercise this
will to bring about the changes we desire for ourselves
and our world. It is the thoughts we think, the feeling,
beliefs and attitudes we hold which combine to create our
vibrational frequency. The South African Flower Essences
work to help us access the depths of our psyches and to
bring an awareness of what it is in our past experience
that holds us back from being all that we could be.
Using flower
essences to lift our frequency to higher levels, we can
have different perspectives on our lives and can make different
choices and decisions. When we hold this new vibrational
frequency, negativity disappears and blockages in our auric
field and energy meridians dissolve. Because the aura creates
the physical body, as it changes, these changes are reflected
on the physical level.
It is believed
that the energy of Africa, which is focused in Table Mountain
where the leylines of the whole continent converge, has
much to offer the world. South Africa, having been through
a cycle of withdrawal from and ostracism by the international
community, has rejoined the global family. 1994, the year
of South Africa's first free elections and the year of Nelson
Mandela's instatement as president was also the year that
these essences chose to manifest. The vibrational rainbow
of the South African Flower Essences is now blending with
the energy streaming in from all over our planet to contribute
to planetary healing.
