Feng = air and Shui = water, this is how the word ‘Feng Shui’ signifies the management of air and water in connection with the magnetic energy of the earth and human body. Probably, this wisdom migrated there from India before the Mahabharata war. Those were the days of good cultural, social, commercial and diplomatic relations between the two countries. It was the Buddhist monks who took this technique from India to China as some other scholars opine. Anyway, what so ever may be the time of migration of this wisdom from India to China, this seems to be true that the popular science of Feng Shui of China and Far east is the modified version of Indian Vastushastra. 

The geomagnetic energy is termed as ‘QI’. Positive ‘QI’ is ‘YANG’ or ‘Purusha’ or male and negative ‘QI’ is termed as ‘YIN’ or female or ‘Prakriti’. Balancing technique of this ‘QI’ for a land piece, plot, house or any human dwellings is called Feng Shui. This science takes into consideration the total environmental components such as color and designs of walls; furniture material used in doors and windows, interior decoration articles like curtains, paintings, photographs etc. The balance of YIN and YANG makes available the cosmic breadth i.e. cosmic energy. This science is also called as ‘Geomancy’ in China. 

Feng Shui recognizes the impact of natural resources and shapes. For example, the tortoise shaped hillocks are long-lived and growing green. Gigantic dragon is accepted to be auspicious in China. Master of Feng Shui in China is designated as Geographer. 

The place and direction of the placement of the internal gadgets is important. The wrong placement is rectified by using mirror. The environmental factors are considered seriously alongwith geomagnetic force and sidereal effects on human body. Even the fixing of names of a person or a house or structure is also screened through Feng Shui principles.

Five elementary components are present in the Indian pattern, but objects differ a little bit. These are Water, Fire, Earth, Air and Space. Air is represented by wood and Space by gold, because both are invincible. YIN and YANG are forces while ‘QI’ is unstable and ever changing. Equation between these two is good while contrariety causes damages.

Feng Shui recognizes an omnipresent (all pervading) consciousness i.e. ‘chi’. It is found normally concentrated near water sources. It spreads out with circulating air and is to be fixed on a particular spot.

Singapore and Hong Kong both are well-planned towns based on Feng Shui.

Points to be observed in Feng Shui 

1.Ornaments are to be purchased fully intact and without any border.

2.Energy reducing self-image viewing bed mirror is to be avoided.

3.Broken equipments and utensils are to be repaired immediately or should be replaced without
   delay. Broken mirror should never be used.

4.Foot-side of double bed should never be towards the door because it reduces love and affection
   between the couples.

5.The fish aquarium is to be set in the house with bubbling aerator.

6.Sleep keeping your head towards south and foot towards north.

7.There should be obstruction out to the rear door, as free passage of rear door will make the
   owner bankrupt and insolvent.

8.Ladies should not sit keeping back towards water sources otherwise relations with life partner
   may be distorted.

9.Don’t put drinking water near cooking fireplace.

10.There should be no obstruction opposite to the main entry door.

11.Hang some soothing landscapes and/or picture of your favorite God in your bedroom;
     insinuating, gaudy and vivid pictures may cause loss of sleep and undue excitement.

12.Remove immediately any heavy ugly looking object or rock facing the main entry door.

13.East facing house having river, spring or pond is always good.

14.Opposite to the southwest side of the house, a high land, wall or hillock is good.

15.House level should always be higher than the road.

To avoid afternoon sunrays, grow plants and trees towards southwest of the house.
Plots on X and T junctions of the road should never be used for building houses.

MIRACLES OF FENG SHUI

Whether the five elements are favorable or not are decided by the birth time of a person tabulated as under. Key may be understood - for example, if the birth time of somebody is 8:00 am, then he should start his construction from east and southeast corner of the plot. This side is to be always kept neat and tidy.

Examples

1.  Reception counter

The hotel ‘HYAAT’ of Singapore had the main entrance door, reception counter and cashier counter parallel to the front road. This was inauspicious as per Feng Shui principles; especially this should never be towards the northwest direction. This makes the owner bankrupt very soon. Necessary alterations were made in consultation with a big Feng Shui expert. Just opposite the main entrance, there was a big fountain in the lobby. Shifting of fountain was not possible; therefore two side fountains were constructed to counter this effect. The fourth floor had a flag hindrance and hence, was removed after offering an obeisance to restore the sanctity.

2. Century five star hotels of Bombay

On the way to Santacruz airport, this hotel had a beautiful swimming pool in the central courtyard of the premises. In fact this is the main fault, which is not yet shifted despite reminders and this hotel, is at loss in comparison to other hotels of Century group.

3.Placement of Telephone

Telephone is an energy-consuming instrument; hence its right place is the southeast corner i.e. Ani Kona. Placing a water pot near the telephone should be strictly avoided. Even water glass near the instruments may cause disorder.

4.Litigation files of court cases

Such papers and files should never be kept in the southeast section of the house. They should be kept in the storeroom or cash box. They should be kept only at northeast corner of the place of worship with a prayer for an easy disposal of the case. 

5.Knock on entry door

Well you may experiment. Wake up early in the morning when others are sleeping. You just knock with heavy strikes of your palm. Three four times is enough. Again go back to sleep. The bad effect of adverse air vibrations in the house will make the atmosphere vindictive and there will be definite quarrel among the dwellers just for no reason.

6.Never disturb your routine

Disorder in the routine of the master of the house upsets the home environment. The master of the house should wake up ahead of all other family members. A routine protocol is to be fixed with traditional co-operation in the family. If a junior member starts behaving like a master, things will not be normal.
